Kawasaki Ninja H2R "Black Chrome" (30ml)

Airbrush ready lacquer paint.

The Black Chrome paint is a metallic effect more than a mirror-like effect chrome paint. Its ultra-fine pigmentation gives it an appearance close to the black chrome effect.

Please follow the process below to get the best results. You may wish to perform a plastic spoon test first.

Step 1

Prepare the model/parts in the usual manner and apply a black primer coat. 

Step 2

When dry, apply a clearcoat in the usual way with ProScale Paints 2k system. DO NOT touch the clearcoat. Allow a minimum of 48 hours drying time.

Step 3

The Chrome Effect Paint can now be applied. DO NOT touch the clearcoat otherwise fingerprints and/or scratches may become visible in the chrome finish. Apply the chrome with 0.3 airbrush at 10-15psi and apply 3 light coats of chrome in an even application with 2 minute flash off between coats. The chrome should dry quickly between coats. If in cold conditions the chrome needs to be applied in lighter coats. Please note: Over application will result in loss of chrome effect.

Step 4

When the chrome has been applied, allow to dry for 48 hours at room temperature. 

IN MY EXPERIENCE I HAVE FOUND THE FOLLOWING STEPS ARE NOT ALWAYS NEEDED!!

The paint stood up to handing and light rubbing with a cloth with no sealing or clearcoat required, BUT if heavy handling is needed follow the steps below.

Step 5

When the chrome has dried, Mix ProScale Paints 2k clearcoat system (2:1 with NO thinner) spray 4 very light mist coats of ProScale Paints 2k clear. This is essential to ensure the chrome like appearance is maintained. Allow the mist coats to dry and leave 2 minutes before the next mist clearcoat.

After 4 mist coats apply a couple wet 2k coats until it self levels accordingly

Allow clearcoat to dry for minimum of 6 hours before handling.

Keep out of reach of children.
